London Law firm celebrates doubled revenue

London headquartered law firm, Humphreys Law, has reported a 100 per cent+ increase in revenue year-on-year and made some key appointments.

The firm founded in 2017 has brought together teams working together on the full lifecycle for technology companies and investors. Almost uniquely amongst smaller firms, HLaw advises on fund formations, VC investments and tech M&A, as well as advising on commercial contracts and the related IP, data protection, tax and regulatory issues.

Over the last 12 months, transactions involving crypto, blockchain, fintech and AI have been a particular feature of the firm’s practice and the team has expanded to meet growing demand.

Head of Tax, Annette Beresford, has become an equity partner; Winston Penhall has joined to bolster the firm’s funds practice and most recently, Natalya Vilyavina has joined the VC and M&A team as a Senior Associate. Last month, Chris White joined to become Head of Banking and to build out a debt finance practice within the firm, acting for banks and corporate borrowers.

Henry Humphreys, founding partner and managing partner comments, “With the pace of change never more rapid and the scale of the challenges businesses face never more daunting, there has never been a greater need for the high-quality nimble law firm focussed on the technology ecosystem.

“We are tremendously proud to have completed the number and calibre of transactions thus far in the firm’s development, and we are fortunate indeed to be instructed by a wide range of supportive clients.”

The vast majority of the firm’s instructions are international, and it has built an expanding network of ‘best friend’ overseas law firms to provide joined-up legal services on international deals and offer a ‘flag in every major tech hub’ as a service.

Henry continued: “What we expect to see in the years ahead is that the very largest law firms will continue to work on the very largest cross-border transactions, but below the level of mega deals clients in London and the UK will more than ever look for a firm where the interests of those advising them are more closely aligned with their own.”

The firm, which celebrated its fifth anniversary in September, recently expanded to new offices in London and has also been ranked in the Legal 500.
