Royal Stamp Causes Care Home Stir

When local postie delivered a letter marked with a King Charles III stamp from Buckingham Palace everyone knew it would be a momentous occasion as they revealed its contents.

Madeira Lodge Care Home sent their sincere sympathy to King Charles personally at having lost his mother, he replied with a beautiful card featuring a picture of himself as a young boy with his mother acknowledging their thoughtful words.

The note read: ‘It was very kind of you to send me such a wonderful generous message following the death of my beloved mother. Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow.’

Sarah Pennington, Manager at Madeira Lodge Care Home says: “As you can imagine we were very touched and excited to receive this from our King. It is a letter we will all treasure. I think we will frame it and display it as a permanent reminder to be viewed with fondness for our lost Queen but also our new King.”
