Housebuilder donation creates Mother’s Day memories for Southampton hospice patients

A Hampshire housebuilder has donated 32 photo frames to Mountbatten Hampshire this Mother’s Day so that its hospice patients can always have a family keepsake by their side.

Barratt Homes, which is building new homes in the county, wanted to ensure that mums staying in the Southampton hospice could have something to treasure on their special day. On hearing that the charity was looking to display a family photograph for each of its patients to have at their bedside, the leading housebuilder was eager to help.

Mountbatten Hampshire in West End offers 24/7 inpatient and community domiciliary and palliative end-of-life care services to people in the local area. Michelle Wheeler, Corporate Fundraiser, said that Barratt’s donation was the perfect way for the hospice to mark Mother’s Day this year.

She said: “Providing a safe and caring environment is at the heart of everything we do to support those living with a life-limiting illness. It’s important that our patients feel at home here and can celebrate special days and events such as Mother’s Day. We are extremely grateful to Barratt Homes for donating these beautiful frames. Our patients can now have a captured moment with their loved ones on display while they’re staying here. I know our mums, especially, will be over the moon.”

Barratt Homes is committed to helping organisations in the communities where it’s building, and Anthony Dimmick, Barratt Homes Community Liaison Manager, is pleased that the developer could show its support for Mountbatten Hampshire.

He said: “Mountbatten Hampshire is providing expert care and support for people in the local area, and it has been a real pleasure to make this donation for Mother’s Day. What a beautiful way to ensure families are always together.”

Mountbatten Hampshire is the county’s oldest and largest hospice and has been serving the community for more than 45 years. Anyone living in Southampton and Hampshire with a life-limiting illness can benefit from its care and services. It also provides free support to the families and friends of those who have been bereaved.

Barratt Homes is building new homes across Hampshire. It is committed to supporting local causes that improve the quality of life for those living in the region.
