North east university’s flexible ‘people-first approach’ for professional learning and development opportunities

Recent workforce development events such as Northumbria University’s first instalment of People 2023: The Series, is a further example of how the university and its partners are successfully enabling HR professionals, business leaders, and senior managers in the north east to innovate and improve their people strategy.

People 2023: The Series kicked off with a half day conference in March, developed in partnership with NEPIC, and designed to help businesses attract, engage, and retain top talent in the north east and ensure that current and future leaders are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to confidently lead the development of a workforce.

The first event, Rewriting The Rules – Unlocking People Potential, brought together acclaimed industry leaders and academic experts to explore the challenges of, and potential solutions to, recruiting, developing, upskilling, and retaining talent in today’s challenging labour market. The thought-provoking conference discussed the key topics of integrity in the workplace, the importance of hybrid working and how to increase the visibility of opportunity in the north east.

In a bid to further promote the benefits of workforce development, Northumbria University is hosting a Virtual People 2023 series of events and workshops in the coming months on related topics such as menopause in the workplace; accessibility & EDI; mindful leadership; balancing career and parenthood; and consciously connected communities, amongst others.
