Aer Lingus begin new Belfast City service from Newcastle International Airport

Aer Lingus Regional services from Newcastle International Airport to Belfast City Airport took off earlier today, marking the start of the new daily service between Newcastle and the heart of Belfast.

Benefitting business and leisure passengers alike, the daily service now connects passengers directly to the heart of the capital of Northern Ireland, with Belfast City Airport located just 3 miles from Belfast City Centre.

The addition of daily flights to Belfast City, the Aer Lingus Regional services between Newcastle and Dublin were increased to daily earlier this year, providing more choice and one-stop connections to the USA and Canada. The launch of the new Belfast service doubles the airline’s flights and capacity from Newcastle International Airport.

Commenting on route launch, Chris Ion, aviation development manager at Newcastle International Airport said: “We are pleased to welcome Aer Lingus Regional’s daily service between Newcastle and Belfast City Airport. This investment provides convenient and flexible access to the heart of Belfast, as well as increasing opportunities for the attraction of inbound tourists to the North East of England.’’

Commenting on the announcement, Ciarán Smith, head of commercial at Emerald Airlines said: “Already servicing the popular Newcastle – Dublin route, we are very pleased to be adding to our Newcastle schedule, with the introduction of this new route to Belfast. We look forward to continuing to grow our services, providing more options for those travelling to and from Newcastle.”
