Flaunt Digital works with Age UK Leeds to run digital workshops

Leeds digital agency Flaunt Digital have teamed up with Age UK Leeds to run a series of digital workshops, volunteering their time to support the elderly community.

Age UK Leeds has been instrumental in creating a safe and welcoming space, providing opportunities for older people to embrace digital technology as well as an opportunity to meet new people.

The ‘Tech and Tea’ workshops are a platform for elderly individuals to seek help with their devices, receive training, and have a chat. Technology has the power to improve the quality of life for everyone, but it can be a little harder for those who haven’t grown up with it. The workshops aim to empower and create meaningful connections by sharing digital knowledge and lending a friendly ear for a chat.

The Flaunt Digital team is now busy working on a new endeavour, a 6-week workshop focused on creating digital journals to capture memories of Leeds. Over the course of six weeks, the team will be facilitating weekly workshops aimed at creating digital journals that capture people’s memories associated with Leeds, with the objective of combining digital skills such as drawing, photography, videography and typing to bring these memories to life online.

Martin Lewis, Wellbeing Coordinator at Age UK Leeds said, “Age UK Leeds is excited to be working with Flaunt Digital on the digital journals project, starting on 28th June, which is a development from the digital drop-ins Flaunt have ably assisted with so far this year. This is part of the new Ways to Wellbeing service from Age UK Leeds, which promotes the five ‘ways to wellbeing’: connect, get active, take notice, learn and give. It is easy to see how the digital journals project fulfils the majority of these beneficial activities, and will be a great experience for the older people who are involved.”
