Plans for hundreds of homes in Merseyside town get the green light
Plans for hundreds of new homes in a Merseyside town have been given the green light.
Redrow Homes Ltd, supported by planning and development consultancy Lichfields, have secured reserved matters planning approval for a mix of 318 one-bedroomed apartments and two, three and four bedroomed family homes, on an 11-ha plot of land at Hilton Grange in Halewood.
The scheme, which will be built on land to the south of the railway line bounded by Lower Road, Finch Lane and Baileys Lane, will also feature 131 affordable properties, comprising a mix of 57 one bedroomed apartments, 44 two bedroomed homes and 30 three bedroomed homes.
Outline planning permission was approved in 2021 for ‘The Finches’ development of contemporary-style properties centred around new community space to create a balance of town and country.
Spacious gardens and parking together with landscaping and the planting of trees will also feature as part of the scheme. Residents have already started to move into the Redrow homes approved under the first phase of development.
Onsite building work is due to start on this phase as soon as all pre-commencement conditions are discharged, creating several new construction jobs.
Imogen Zulver, senior planner at the Manchester office of Lichfields, who secured reserved matters approval from Knowsley Council, said new homes are needed urgently across the North West to help meet the housing shortage.
She added: “We are working with property developers and local planning authorities to ensure schemes like this one are both viable and a welcome addition to local areas, contributing towards providing high quality homes for local people.
“The Finches is set to be a terrific development, creating a sustainable residential neighbourhood with good access to local amenities and services. It will undoubtedly contribute positively to this suburb of Halewood and we now look forward to work on the project getting started.”
