Steven Munt, ThinCats

ThinCats, the leading alternative finance provider to mid-sized SMEs, has announced today the appointment of Steven Munt as Director Business Development. Steven will work in the London & South East team and report to Dave Sherrington, Regional Head of Sales.

Steven is well known in the London & South East business finance community, with over a decade’s experience in investment and corporate banking specialising in asset-based and cash-flow lending. For the last five years, he has worked as a Senior Director at Shawbrook Bank. Prior to that, he held roles at Lloyds, Barclays, RBS, and Credit Suisse.

ThinCats recently announced record new business for the first half of 2023, delivering funding of £191m – 45 per cent ahead of H1 2022.

Simon Pierce, Meinhardt

Global multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, Meinhardt, has injected a fresh approach into its London-based façade team with the appointment of Simon Pierce as its new façade director. Simon joins Meinhardt (UK) having led and delivered façade projects of many types and scales.

Simon leads one of the Centre for Windows and Cladding Technology’s sustainability streams, developing the façade industry’s approach to carbon and circularity. They are also a technology tutor at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.

Simon Pierce said: “I am hugely excited to have joined Meinhardt (UK). I was drawn to the company’s broad and deep expertise as a multi-disciplinary consultancy, balancing a flexible business approach with extensive global outreach and scale.

“Meinhardt has invested in developing its outstanding façade team for many years, and I very much look forward to building on that legacy. I am bringing my own combination of engineering pragmatism and design sensitivity to the team as part of its new drive to make an even greater impact on the world of façade engineering.”

Tom Birdsell, Jones Hargreaves

Leading commercial building, project and sustainability consultancy Jones Hargreaves has promoted Tom Birdsell to Partner and made three new hires at its London office.

Birdsell, who joined the company as Associate Partner in 2020, becomes the fifth Partner at Jones Hargreaves and will lead the firm’s London West End office. Before joining Jones Hargreaves, Birdsell worked at Cushman and Wakefield in the West End and City offices for six years, where he started on the graduate programme following completion of a degree in Building Surveying from the University of Reading.

Birdsell has particular expertise in project development monitoring, dilapidations, due diligence and project management/contract administration for institutional investors in central London and the wider South East region. Having led multiple projects for clients including LXi REIT and Motcomb Estates, Birdsell is focused on delivering projects which yield maximum long-term potential and value.
