£43m Loftus development nears completion
The final stage of Beyond Housing’s £43m Hummersea Hills development in Loftus is nearing completion.
The final £15m phase of this scheme, delivered in partnership with Esh Construction, will see the delivery of 128 homes comprising one, two, three and four-bedroom houses, one and two bedroom apartments and one, two and three-bedroom bungalows. 73 of these new homes will be made available for affordable rent, with the other 12 being marketed for Rent to Buy through Beyond Housing’s sales company, Viola Homes.
The project includes 43 homes for flexible supported living, which will be provided with care and support services from the community. This element is part of the successful ‘Redcare’ partnership between Beyond Housing and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, established to provide bespoke homes with care and support for eligible people with support needs from across Redcar and Cleveland.
The flexible supported living scheme was included as a priority in the ‘Meeting people’s needs’ section of the council’s corporate plan document. Beyond Housing has so far taken handover of 104 homes, including apartments, houses and bungalows.
Clare Harrigan, director of development at Beyond Housing, said: “We are delighted to be working with Esh Construction to deliver this attractive and strategically important development. The scheme will provide a range of much-needed affordable new homes, offering care and support and a choice of tenures.”
Mark Binns, operations director at Esh Construction, said: “As we head towards completion at Hummersea Hills, it is important to recognise the hard work and dedication from all parties involved which has enabled us to reach this stage.
“This is a project that commenced in the height of the pandemic, but collaborative working has been key to overcoming any challenges that were presented. The new homes handed over to date have been well received and we look forward to bringing the site to completion very soon.”
