North Yorkshire based tailor ‘sews up’ six-figure expansion deal with HSBC UK

North Yorkshire tailor Dandy Threads is set to open a new headquarters with support from HSBC UK.

The family-owned business has purchased a disused bank building in Guisborough using a £120k funding package from HSBC UK. Once refurbished, the site will open under the name of ‘Langley House’ and serve as Dandy Threads’ new headquarters.

The father-and-son-run tailors currently operate out of three separate buildings. The business has seen a 300 per cent increase in turnover since the pandemic, fuelled by word-of-mouth and a boost in tailored and vintage attire thanks to the popularity of period dramas, such as Peaky Blinders.

The new headquarters will bring all three branches of the business under one roof. This will aid the company’s founder, Derrick Langley, to oversee operations more easily, enhancing efficiency and productivity.

Last month, the tailors produced clothing for over 100 weddings. The business expects the new location will enable it to serve many more in the months to come. The new site will also support Dandy Threads’ transition to factory-scale manufacturing, enabling the business to train more tailors and refine the skills of all workers.

Derrick Langley and his son Nicholas Harvey-James, founded Dandy Threads in 2016. It was born out of a family love for vintage fashion and a desire to provide a high-quality service to customers. It has won the ‘North of England Wedding Award’ four years in a row, and has recently taken home the trophy for a fifth time this year.
