Fleet Street lawyer on mission to tackle economic inactivity

A leading London lawyer is on a mission to combat the UK’s growing economic inactivity by empowering and inspiring greater autonomy within the workforce.

Niki Avraam, co-founder of Howat Avraam Solicitors on Fleet Street, is renowned for litigating high profile cases encompassing discrimination, whistleblowing and dismissal. Now she’s turned her attention to fighting for a new era of business leadership, focusing on helping companies and individuals thrive with agility and resilience, in today’s professional landscape.

“Rising economic inactivity is a hugely concerning trend across the UK,” commented Niki. “I believe that is because we are failing to create roles with enough entrepreneurial autonomy to ensure employees feel personally fulfilled throughout their careers. We need structured revolution within workforces if the UK is to remain a leading global economy.

“I am on a mission to help everyone, from 18-year-olds entering the workforce to international corporations, understand how our workforce can be reinvigorated if we all have strong purpose and a healthy balance of independence and ambition.”

Niki began her mission for change at the beginning of this year by joining The Alternative Board (TAB), a nationwide business advisory group and coaching service.

Niki was placed on a London peer board with entrepreneurs including Giorgi Hind of Luxury Construction Group who is currently filming his first Netfix series, Joᾶo Andrede co-founder of  the One Hundred Ultra Trail Endurance World Championship (shortly to appear on Dragons’ Den) and vitality guru Skip Archimedes.

Sharing her vision within this esteemed peer group, Niki gained the affirmation she needed to take her plans forward: “Joining TAB was revolutionary in allowing me to see beyond my career as a lawyer and business owner and recognise that being inspirational is a form of leadership in itself,” commented Niki.

“My peer board colleagues work in completely different sectors but everyone agreed that the UK is missing a voice to help shape the future of our workforce.”

This month, Niki has released free Leadership Lessons on her website, available to anyone seeking guidance on supercharging their career path. This will be followed by a Leadership Lessons series where Niki interviews business leaders from a variety of sectors.

Niki has also launched a bespoke programme of workshops and masterclasses for UK businesses focussing on four key pillars: leadership, agility, resilience and autonomy. Several firms are signed up to run programmes for employees later this year with Niki also providing mentorship to business leaders and aspiring leaders.

Isháun Sahni, owner of The Alternative Board (TAB) West London believes Niki is now on a journey to even greater success: “Niki has added a great new dynamic to her peer board, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to our monthly meetings.

“Joining a board with so many successful entrepreneurs has been incredibly inspiring for Niki and has demonstrated how even those in the C-Suite can benefit from peer-to-peer support and encouragement. Members of our TAB boards are becoming prominent leaders within their sectors and I believe that is because of the collective momentum that is generated through their monthly peer sessions”.
