West Yorkshire based manufacturing ‘juggernaut’ celebrates 50 years of growth

Woodcock & Wilson Ltd, a ‘leading force’ in fan manufacturing and innovation are celebrating a golden jubilee as 2023 comes to a close.

Founded in 1973, and based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, the company’s journey from humble beginnings to an ‘industrial juggernaut’ is a testament to dedication, strong partnerships, and ambition.

The journey took root when Len Woodcock and Trevor Wilson forged the partnership that started it all. Initially focused on subcontracting services for local fan enterprises, this collaboration laid the cornerstone for what would soon emerge as an ‘industry vanguard’.

Five years later, the company underwent a transformative relocation to larger premises on Radcliffe Road, Milnsbridge, and formally transitioned into a limited entity. Woodcock & Wilson expanded its expertise to offer end-to-end fan manufacturing, solidifying their commitment to providing comprehensive solutions to businesses globally.

In 1985, Woodcock & Wilson grew and diversified again, as they moved to Marsh Mills, becoming fan technology pioneers and in 1998, they established the Airstream Works factory, showing continued commitment to growth and a solid reputation in the industry.

15 years later, Complete Fan Maintenance Limited was added to the group, as well as the appointment of Ian Crum as Managing Director and shortly after this followed a Management Buy Out, ultimately reshaping the company’s leadership and future.

Finally in 2023, as the company celebrated its 50th anniversary, a new Stores building was erected on the Airstream Works site, housing ‘state of the art’ equipment, including a laser cutting machine, further establishing Woodcock & Wilson at the ‘forefront of innovation’.

A spokesperson commented: “The 50-year journey of Woodcock & Wilson Ltd epitomises its commitment, zeal, and adaptive leadership. From its humble origins in 1973 to its status as a trailblazer in 2023, this milestone is a tribute to the vision of its founders, the dedication of its teams, and the resilience to surmount challenges and seize opportunities.”

Ian Crum, Managing Director of Woodcock & Wilson Ltd, added: “As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we reflect on our remarkable journey and the enduring legacy that has been built through the dedication and hard work of our team.

“Woodcock & Wilson has evolved into an industry leader, and our commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction remains unwavering. We are excited about the future as we continue to push technological boundaries and provide solutions to our valued customers.”
