Santa spotted in emergency ‘no chimney’ talks at new homes development on Hayling Island

Santa Claus has been spotted at Barratt Homes’ Pebble Walk on Hayling Island this week for what seems to have been an emergency meeting to discuss the development’s lack of chimneys.

The leading housebuilder’s energy-efficient new properties are built without a traditional chimney, so Father Christmas was eager to plan another way to enter the homes of children living at the Hampshire site this year.

Making a pre-Yuletide trip to the development on Sinah Lane, the jolly fellow was seen chatting to Barratt’s construction workers and considering the best way to make his special gift delivery. There was much deliberation, but, as Mr Claus said his goodbyes, and headed back to the North Pole on his sleigh, a decision seemed to have been reached.

Santa said: “These new ho-ho-homes here are beautifully designed, but I wanted to be certain that all the children could receive their presents as normal this Christmas. After chatting to Barratt’s workforce however, I needn’t have worried, and I can confirm that a plan has been put in place.”

It was site workers from local trades, BCT Groundworks, SCA Scaffolding and O’Neill & Brennan, who were on hand to speak to Father Christmas, along with Barratt Site Manager, Padraic Rutter.

He said: “Although Barratt’s homes are built without chimneys, there are several other ‘top secret’ ways only Santa can gain entry. This meeting today was really important and I’m glad Mr Claus dropped into Pebble Walk. He went away safe in the knowledge that all our younger residents will still receive their stocking presents this Christmas Eve, and we’re happy that he’s happy.”

Barratt Homes is building energy-efficient new homes across Hampshire and is committed to looking after its residents, especially during the festive season.
