North East start-ups and scaleups to be given a platform at new event
Tech entrepreneurs and future leaders are set to meet for the first time at a new event for the region from the founder of the hugely successful Newcastle Startup Week Festival.
Founder and producer, Paul Lancaster, is launching PLATFORM, a new event for 2024, with the first event taking place in Newcastle on Friday 26th January. Each monthly event will see entrepreneurs, business owners, funders and investors meet to find out more about the latest opportunities to help them start or grow their business. Attendees will also hear from established leaders about their own journeys to success.
Paul said: “The appetite for tech and digital-focused events in the North East is huge. The sector is growing at lightning speed and part of that growth is the region’s ability to collaborate and share some of the innovations that we should be proud of.
“PLATFORM aims to help establish the North East of England as the best place to start and grow a business in the UK. To do that, we’re making sure that the latest news and updates that affect the sector are readily available every month.”
Kirsty Ostell, Managing Director at O agency, PLATFORM’s exclusive marketing partner said: “The North East is booming with tech talent and big ideas, and that’s something that comes through in our own portfolio of clients.
“We get to see first-hand some of the biggest innovations that are being developed here in the region, but we know that there’s so much more potential. Connecting people with the right network that will ensure start-ups can become scale ups and ideas become reality is something we’re very passionate about.”
Laura Jenkins, Director of Small Business Marketing at specialist accounting software firm and event sponsor, FreeAgent, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with PLATFORM once again as we both have a strong commitment towards supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners in reaching their objectives and maximising their potential.
“By providing useful information, resources and insights through PLATFORM’s 2024 events - and sharing our own journey from startup to leading fintech company - we look forward to helping support businesses in the North East and equipping them with essential accounting and tax management skills necessary for success.”
