Recruitment event packed out as SEAH Wind launch jobs drive

The first of a string of recruitment events for a huge green energy project has seen a healthy attendance at Teesworks.

Organised with the help of the Teesworks Skills Academy, the first job event for SeAH Wind’s huge monopile manufacturing facility saw a great turnout at the Skills Academy building at South Bank on Wednesday afternoon (31 January).

The first round of events across the region is almost fully booked – with more than 650 people set to attend.

SeAH Wind has already received a great number of job applications after they commenced their large-scale drive to recruit for positions including Welders, Platers, Roll Bending Machine Operatives, Mechanical and Electrical Technicians, Supervisors, and General Operatives for its South Bank facility. 

Chris Musgrave, Teesworks Chairman, said: “We’re roaring ahead with investment in the Teesworks site and bringing good well-paid jobs to the people of Teesside.  

“Teesside deserves projects like SeAH Wind at South Bank to offer hope for tomorrow and skilled jobs today. In the past, people have had to go away for work but they can now find positions on big jobs close to home. Our Teesworks Skills Academy is leading the charge in making sure people get access to these roles. We’ve already seen great interest in these skilled jobs – I’d encourage everyone to find out more as these could well be for you.”

These sessions are on a booked basis via Eventbrite with more details available on securing a slot here. More events are in the pipeline.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Teesworks is bringing jobs now and this is just the beginning. The huge demand we’ve seen for these positions shows the enormity of the task we have ahead – and with the help of our Joint Venture partners as Teesworks – we’re more than up to the task. SeAH Wind is an indication of the huge wave of jobs we’ll begin to see coming on line in the near future as we get going on Net Zero Teesside at the Redcar end of the site, and more green energy firms see facilities go up across Teesworks.

“I’d urge the people of Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool to find out more about the good, well-paid, green jobs Teesworks is bringing.”

Once fully operational, it is expected a total of 750 direct jobs and 1,500 further supply chain jobs will come from the SeAH manufacturing facility.
