Unlock a world of possibilities with Durham University Business School’s Senior Leader Apprenticeship

As an employer recruiting new staff can be time-consuming and costly, however developing current staff doesn’t have to be.

Our Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship is a part-time, flexible programme aimed at highly motivated middle to senior managers across all sectors. Delivered by Durham University Business School faculty that have a wealth of industry experience, this programme is designed to equip your workforce with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today's competitive landscape.

The Senior Leader Apprenticeships provides participants with a strong foundation to enable them to become strategic and influential leaders. The programme can be tailored to your business’ needs, and it provides real-world business education where apprentices continually apply their learning directly back into the workplace.

Funding

The Senior Leader Apprenticeship is fully funded for all Apprenticeship Levy paying employers. Non-levy paying employers will be able to claim 95% of the cost of the apprenticeship from the Government. Making it a very cost-effective way to invest in staff and help retain and develop your employee talent.

At Durham University, we believe in the power of education to transform lives and drive organisational success. Hear from current apprentices and employers on how the apprenticeship is already benefiting companies here.

Delivery and content

The programme is delivered in teaching blocks of two, three or four days typically on-site at Durham University Business School, with online activities between sessions. There is a mixture of intensive face-to-face teaching blocks, virtual activities, and online materials.

Apprentices are required to spend 20% of their work time in ‘off the job’ training and new development related to the apprenticeship. This will include module teaching, studying and extra CPD e.g., conferences, site visits and internal training.

Tailored for professionals seeking to enhance their expertise, this programme seamlessly blends academic excellence with real-world applicability. From strategic leadership to practical problem-solving, our curriculum is crafted to meet the evolving needs of modern businesses.

Chris Riding, Portfolio Director at Sage Group PLC, a current apprentice said "As I continue to develop in my career I have been looking for ways to grow and not just take on more training courses where I learn how to pass an exam at the end of a week, but can genuinely develop and stretch myself. When I found the Senior Leader Apprenticeship, I jumped at the opportunity to get involved – and have certainly found it met my aim to be challenged!

I’d recommend this apprenticeship to anyone working in a business who is looking to challenge themselves, develop new skills in areas such as leadership and strategy and feel they can use this greater insight to grow their organisation".
