IDEO appoints Lorenz Korder as managing director in London

IDEO, the global strategic consulting and design business, is today announcing the appointment of Lorenz Korder as Managing Director of IDEO London.

Lorenz will be responsible for driving IDEO’s growth from its London Hub. He will work directly      with Jennifer Riel, COO at IDEO, to implement IDEO’s global strategy in Europe and continue to support a number of clients alongside his new role.

Lorenz has been with IDEO for nine years, working with large organisations to build innovation teams and change programmes that deliver human-centred products, services and experiences. He has deep expertise in the hospitality, retail, and technology sectors, guiding clients to develop differentiated strategies and climate-era solutions. Prior to joining IDEO, Lorenz founded and led a sportswear brand for 4 years.

On the appointment of Lorenz Korder as Managing Director of IDEO London, James Higgs, Partner and outgoing Managing Director at IDEO said: “Lorenz has been at the heart of our business in London for many years. His passion for what makes us different and his sense of duty to our exceptional community in London makes him the ideal person to lead the business into the next phase of growth. I look forward to working with Lorenz as he brings his energy to our people and offers throughout Europe.”

Lorenz succeeds James Higgs, who was appointed as Managing Director in London following the pandemic. During his tenure, James delivered a new strategy for the business in London with a focus on streamlining business operations and the offers presented to clients. James will be returning to his role as Partner where he will once again focus on client work.

On his new role, Lorenz Korder said: “IDEO’s London Hub is a creative powerhouse, brimming with creative energy. It is a privilege to be leading our collective of makers, designers and consultants. Under James’ leadership, I have seen our team collaborate with clients to build a platform to help SMBs go net zero and reimagine the fashion supply chain to cut waste and boost sales.”

“IDEO’s human-centred approach to innovation is more crucial now than ever. Today’s defining business challenges—climate change, inequality, and the evolution of emerging technologies—all have human behaviour at their heart. Addressing these challenges requires a profound understanding of people’s needs and a commitment to radically redesigning the systems and services that shape our world.”
