Middlesbrough named top tech hub outside London in 2024 report
Middlesbrough has been ranked as the leading tech hub outside of London, securing sixth place nationally in the 2024 UK Tech Jobs Report by Eskimoz. With a score of 80.07, Middlesbrough boasts the fastest-growing tech sector in the UK, experiencing a growth rate of 13.79 per cent.
Middlesbrough is now home to 165 tech firms, with its rapid expansion attracting both startups and established companies that are drawn by the area's growing infrastructure and talent pool. Tech jobs currently make up 2.7 per cent of the local workforce, but wages are rising quickly, with an 8.46 per cent increase pushing the average hourly pay to £15.13.
Middlesbrough also offers a high quality of life for tech professionals, with short commutes and a balanced lifestyle. The town’s booming tech sector, combined with competitive wages and excellent living conditions, makes it a top destination for tech growth in the UK.
