CSG staff celebrate 120 years of service
A quartet of waste processing firm workers are celebrating more than a century of service.
Phil Manley, Ian James, Michelle Barlow and Darren Litherland have worked at CSG’s Cadishead site, on Greater Manchester’s Liverpool Road, for a combined 120 years.
Phil and Ian have clocked up 40 years each, with Michelle and Darren each reaching 20 years.
Phil and Ian started working at the Cadishead site – which specialises in hazardous waste and processing difficult waste streams and chemicals – just two weeks apart in 1984.
Ian, 66, began as a supervisor on a drum bay before progressing to sales co-ordinator and his present role of contracts manager.
He said: “I never thought I’d be here for 40 years, but it’s been a wonderful company to work for.”
Technical manager Phil, 70, was the only chemist at Cadishead when he started.
He said: “CSG has been a fantastic company to work for.
“The management over the last 20 years has been incredible, and we are in a very strong position.”
Office manager Michelle started after a visit to the Jobcentre.
She said: “The Jobcentre said there was an opening at Cadishead, so I walked a mile up the road, had a chat and started the following Monday.”
Darren, 47, whose responsibilities include checking chemicals when they arrive on site, said: “Every day is different, and there is a good team here.”
Neil Richards, CSG managing director, added: “A huge congratulations to these four valued members of our team.
“It was an honour to present them with gifts as a thank you for such impressive periods of service.
“Their dedication is truly appreciated and valued.”
