Northumberland enterprise festival sparks entrepreneurial spirit
A three-day festival celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week has inspired aspiring entrepreneurs across Northumberland, delivering practical business advice, networking opportunities and industry insights.
Hosted by the Northumberland Small Business Service (NSBS), the Enterprise Festival brought together pre-start businesses, seasoned investors, and industry experts at the beautiful settings of Eshott Hall, Hexham Racecourse and Doxford Barns.
Delegates participated in hands-on workshops led by Sam Hook from Unique Thinking and the SME Centre of Excellence, focusing on crafting business plans and refining pitch techniques.
An engaging panel Q&A provided valuable insights and sparked meaningful conversations, while attendees were also introduced to the NSBS Enterprise Grant, offering up to £2,000 for start-ups less than a year old.
With Northumberland outpacing the UK in new business creation last year, the festival highlighted the county’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial growth.
Lucy Evermore, NSBS programme manager, said: “It was incredible to see so much passion and creativity from the entrepreneurs who joined us.
“We’re thrilled to have provided the tools and opportunities they need to take their next steps, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve.
“It is also amazing to be able to offer grant funding to these businesses, something that is essential for businesses in the early stages.”
Backed by Northumberland County Council and part-funded by the North East Combined Authority and the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Rural England Prosperity Fund, the NSBS initiative ensures continued support for micro and small businesses and residents aged 16+ exploring entrepreneurship.
