Leighton marks staff milestone with move

A software development firm has marked a workforce milestone with a headquarters move.

Leighton has switched to Cubo Newcastle after hitting the 100 staff mark.

Bosses say the expansion into the hybrid working space will boost “team and customer collaboration and innovation”.

They also say it will lay foundations for further market progress, revealing the business – which counts British Airways, Greggs and Durham-headquartered digital lender Atom as customers – is set to chalk up record results in its latest financial year.

James Bunting, chief executive at the firm, which builds software products and works on processes to accelerate client digital transformation programmes, said the office move – which introduces Leighton to Cubo’s national suite of hybrid working sites – represents a “significant milestone”.

He added: “Cubo’s office network across the UK will ensure our team can use spaces where great work happens.

“It also reflects our ongoing commitment to retaining a headquarters in the North East and supporting the growing tech sector in the region.”  

The office move builds on a number of senior appointments, which include Lee Gilmore’s arrival as principal solutions architect.

Lee, whose CV features time at companies including BT and Sage, said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining Leighton. 

“The tech sector in the North East is a growing hub, and we’re only going to see more focus, business and talent around what is already a thriving sector. 

“It’s great to be working with like-minded individuals who are so invested in cultivating and growing the amazing talent already working in the region.”

Clare Gledhill has also joined the business as chief consulting officer.
