Keepmoat to build £12 million bungalow scheme

A housebuilder is set to deliver new accessible homes in Newcastle, providing much-needed housing for older residents.

Doncaster-headquartered Keepmoat, in partnership with Newcastle City Council, is investing £12 million to build 45 bungalows in Chapel House, exclusively for residents over the age of 55. 

The Willow Glade development will be built on the former Parkway School site, which has been vacant for over 20 years.

The project will offer energy-efficient, adaptable homes, with eight properties available for affordable rent through the council. 

Councillor Paula Maines, cabinet member for housing, said: “As a council, we believe that everyone has the right to a safe and accessible home that meets their needs. 

“We’re delighted that Willow Glade will bring some much-needed housing to an area of our city that has been vacant for some time and are really looking forward to seeing the completed development.”
