Lufthansa aircraft gets fresh coat on Teesside

A Teesside-based aircraft painting company is celebrating the completion of its twentieth plane since opening a £6.5million facility. 

Airbourne Colours, which secured its Teesside base in October, recently painted a Lufthansa Airbus A321, marking the second Lufthansa plane to be worked on. 

The company, which works with major European airlines including Jet2, EasyJet, Loganair, TAP Portugal and Brussels Airlines, is expanding rapidly in the growing aircraft maintenance sector at Teesside International Airport. 

Teessider Steve Darbyshire, founder and chief executive of Airbourne Colours, said: “It’s very pleasing to have this Lufthansa aircraft painted at our Teesside facility – and we hope it’ll be one of many.

“Our operations are going very well, and we’ve been very busy since expanding and opening this advanced painting facility last year.”

The region’s aviation credentials were further strengthened earlier this year with major contracts secured by Willis with TUI and Jet2 to carry out maintenance services on its aircraft, as well as Draken, which won a £173 million deal with the Ministry of Defence.
