Chase Park unveils specialist dementia facility
A Gateshead-based neurological care centre is enhancing its specialist services with a major investment in dementia care.
Chase Park, in Whickham, has invested £500,000 in a new 12-bed dementia unit, designed to provide a safe and homely environment for residents.
The facility features private en-suite rooms with walk-in showers, memory-friendly layouts and specialist 24-hour care.
Alongside the new unit, Chase Park is upgrading its wider site, which includes an on-site gym, coffee shop and hydrotherapy pool.
Officials say the spaces have been thoughtfully designed to ease dementia symptoms and enhance wellbeing.
They add light-controlled areas have been installed to help manage sundowning and comfortable lounges to encourage social interaction, ensuring “residents live comfortably and with dignity”.
Dr Niraj Brahmabhatt, director of Chase Park, said: “I am thrilled to open our new dementia facility.
“With an aging population across the UK, we have seen the need for dementia services increase year on year.
“The team at Chase Park have the knowledge, passion and facilities to provide residents with the best care possible.”
Jude Goode, registered manager at Chase Park, added: “Our dementia service has been developed with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring our residents feel safe, supported and at home while in our care.
“We have incorporated thoughtful design elements to support memory and wellbeing such as simple layouts, colour schemes, personalised doors, lighting and spacious private accommodation.
“Coupled with the specialist and compassionate care of our team, our facilities ensure residents live comfortably and with dignity in a place they can truly call home.”
