Accenture boosts services with Soben agreement
A global consultancy firm has expanded its infrastructure and capital projects division with the acquisition of a Glasgow construction consultancy.
Accenture has bought Soben, known for its expertise in data centre development and the pharmaceutical and energy sectors.
Bosses say the move will strengthen Accenture’s advisory, project, cost and commercial management services for clients, while enabling Soben to further “disrupt” the construction consultancy market.
Scott Smyth, Soben chief executive, said: “When we started Soben in 2011, our vision was to disrupt the construction consultancy marketplace, and we have now established Soben as one of the key players for capital projects in Europe and North America.
“By joining Accenture, we can realise that vision and offer fantastic opportunities for our people to grow their careers.”
Bamburgh Capital provided corporate finance advisory services throughout the transaction, guiding Soben’s founders through various strategic options.
The advisory firm, based in Newcastle and Manchester, helped negotiate the deal, overseeing due diligence and ensuring a balance of value and long-term success for both parties.
Alex Clarkson, Bamburgh Capital director, added: “We are absolutely delighted to have advised Soben and are excited that this fast growing, disruptive business will now become a part of Accenture’s infrastructure and capital projects practice.
“The Bamburgh Capital team has provided high-quality advice and support to Soben through a fast-paced transaction, and it was a privilege to work with Scott and his team and a pleasure to be working with Accenture.”
