Bridlington housing scheme breaks ground
A new affordable housing development is underway in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire.
Located on Springfield Avenue, the project includes 30 modern council homes, comprising of 24 one-bedroom apartments and six two-bedroom apartments.
Yorkshire-based Hobson & Porter is overseeing the construction, with funding provided by a £2.25 million grant from Homes England and £1 million from the Hull and East Riding devolution settlement, in addition to funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s housing revenue account.
Set to complete in May 2026, officials say the project will “play a key role in supporting housing needs” for local people.
They add that the apartments will feature energy-efficient designs, including air-source heat pumps, solar panels and car parking spaces with EV charging points, as well as native tree planting and wildlife habitats in surrounding areas.
Claire Hoskins, the council’s director of asset strategy, said: “This project will play a key role in supporting housing needs in Bridlington, and we’re delighted to work with partners to invest and expand our housing stock.”
Joe Booth, business development director from Hobson & Porter, added: “This development will provide much-needed town centre apartments for the local people of Bridlington.
“It’s great to see the investment being made by the authority and their funding partners to ensure that Bridlington has a diverse mix of council housing stock across the town.
“We look forward to seeing this one develop in this prominent location.”
