Go-Ahead Group seals headquarters switch
A national bus operator has introduced a new stop after completing an office deal.
The Go-Ahead Group is switching its headquarters to Newcastle’s 55 Degrees North.
The company has signed a 12-year contract for the entire second floor of the high-rise, which overlooks the River Tyne and stands close to the city’s multi-million-pound, 9000-job Pilgrim’s Quarter scheme.
The deal – supported by commercial property consultancy Knight Frank – means Go-Ahead Group, whose buses serve passengers in regions including the North East, London and East Anglia, exits Newcastle’s Grey Street after a number of years.
Nathan Douglas, Knight Frank senior surveyor, who brokered the deal, said: “Go-Ahead Group was keen to upgrade the standard of its offices but stay in a central location, and 55 Degrees North ticked those boxes.
“The office is at the southern end of Pilgrim Street, which is seeing transformational regeneration including a new public square, a destination food and beverage offering and a five-star boutique hotel.
“This letting is another example of the flight to quality we are increasingly seeing when leases come to an end.”
Go-Ahead Group’s buses also provide services across Cornwall, East Yorkshire, Kent, the North West, Oxford and the South Coast.
