Specialist Glass Products' new Systron proHD Vertical Glass Processing machine

Glass maker set to smash targets with machine move

A Huddersfield-based glass maker is ramping up production after investing in equipment to meet rising demand.

Specialist Glass Products has spent £1.2 million on a jumbo-sized Systron proHD Vertical Glass Processing machine, supported by £840,000 in Lombard funding.

Bosses say the apparatus will enable the firm to produce larger orders without sacrificing precision or quality.

They add the kit will allow the company to deliver up to 120 finished panels a day, with the investment expected to boost annual turnover to £15 million within two years by growing sales by at least ten per cent each year.

Andrew Taylor, managing director, said: “The machine will help us streamline processes with automated services, enabling us to produce high-quality units more efficiently.

“Specifically, it will allow us to achieve excellent edge finishes more quickly and consistently, which ultimately benefits customers by offering competitive lead times and maintaining the high standards of quality they expect.”

He added the equipment will enhance Specialist Glass Products’ offering across curved, flat and laminated glass, continuing its work on projects including the new Crossrail Elizabeth Line and Hendricks Gin Palace.

Andrew added: “This new machine is part of our broader investment plan, and highlights our commitment to pushing the boundaries of glass processing.

“It’s an exciting step forward in our mission to innovate, diversify and grow sustainably.”
