HBD submits plans for phase two of SPARK
A property developer is moving ahead with the next phase of a major logistics scheme.
HBD, the property development arm of Sheffield-headquartered Henry Boot, has submitted plans for the second part of the SPARK scheme, in Walsall, which will deliver three sustainable units totalling 101,000sq ft.
The news follows the start of construction on the first phase in March, which is being delivered by industrial and logistics platform Origin, a joint venture between HBD and Feldberg Capital.
Bosses say SPARK will eventually provide 620,000sq ft of space between Junctions 9 and 10 of the M6.
Ed Hutchinson, HBD managing director, said: “Work is progressing quickly with phase one on-site and expected to complete in quarter four this year, and planning now submitted for a further three units.
“Supply of well-located, sustainable space remains constrained within the West Midlands, so it’s positive to be able to deliver the scheme on a speculative basis to meet established demand.”
Construction is set to begin in January 2026, with SPARK being marketed by Cushman & Wakefield and Knight Frank.
