National charity boosts ambitions with office move
A fuel poverty charity has strengthened its North East roots with a headquarters move.
National Energy Action has agreed a ten-year deal to move into Newcastle’s Wellbar.
The organisation has leased a 4,757sq ft hub in the ten-storey building, which is already home to Kennedys Law, Global Radio, Turnitin and Sky.
The deal follows an extensive refurbishment of the high-rise to improve its environmental credentials, with bosses hailing National Energy Action’s arrival as a “great vote of confidence” in the work carried out.
Adam Scorer, chief executive of National Energy Action, which is currently based in Newcastle's West One office building, said: “Wellbar fits both our needs and our ambition.
“We have almost 200 employees and around 47 are based in the North East, which has always been our home after being founded in 1981 by local students who put insulation in older people’s homes.
“This is an apt location for us, and we are very much looking forward to getting settled in.”
The letting was brokered by Emma Young, of Savills, which markets the Grade A property alongside Knight Frank.
She added: “A great deal of thought went into the building’s upgrades to ensure its carbon footprint can be minimised over the long term.
“It is a great vote of confidence that a charity focused on achieving large-scale energy efficiency will now call Wellbar home.”
