Gresham regeneration to take centre stage
An ambitious regeneration scheme is set to attract national attention at a major investment showcase in Leeds this May.
Middlesbrough’s Gresham district will take centre stage at UKREiiF 2025, where developers iMpeC and Buccleuch Property will join the Tees Valley mayor and the Tees Valley Combined Authority to unveil further plans for a £200 million “transformational project”.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “This is the biggest investment in Middlesbrough for generations – and it’s showing exactly what can be achieved when we back ambition with action.
“Gresham has been crying out for meaningful regeneration for years – and now, with the support of the Middlesbrough Development Corporation and our partners, we're delivering just that.
“Unveiling more about this project at UKREiiF puts Middlesbrough on a national stage, showing investors that the town is open for business and full of potential.”
The development includes a new hotel, 240 build-to-rent homes and student accommodation for over 400 people, all recently approved by the Middlesbrough Development Corporation Planning Board.
Land transfers from Middlesbrough Council have enabled the next phase of delivery, with the project forming part of wider efforts to drive economic growth across the Tees Valley.
The region’s presence at UKREiiF will also showcase Teesworks, the UK’s largest Freeport development zone, alongside other emerging investment opportunities in Darlington, Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees.
Now in its third year at UKREiiF, the Tees Valley delegation will host events from a new canal-side venue, with thousands of investors, developers and business leaders expected to attend, making it a key platform to attract interest.
Neil McMillan, iMpeC director, added: “Our Gresham development will be a transformational project for Middlesbrough and we are looking forward to sharing further details of our plans at UKREiiF.
“This event will provide an excellent platform to highlight our vision for Gresham and expand on our proposals for a vibrant and sustainable development which will support the growth of Middlesbrough and revitalise a key town centre location.”
Matt Christie, director of external relations and event programme at UKREiiF, added: “As a proud Teessider, it means a lot to see the Tees Valley well represented at UKREiiF 2025.
“I’m passionate about the role this region plays in the wider creative and investment landscape, and it’s fantastic to see that recognised on a national stage.
“This year, we’re expecting thousands of attendees to join us in Leeds, and I’m confident the festival will once again spark exciting conversations, forge powerful connections, and lead to some truly impactful developments for the year ahead.”
