Bilfinger secures contract at chemical plant
A construction company is set to drive innovation and job creation through a major contract at a chemical park in East Yorkshire.
Bilfinger UK has secured a “significant” contract with Mitsubishi Chemical UK Ltd at Saltend Chemical Park, in Hull, continuing a longstanding relationship between the two firms that stretches back more than 20 years.
Bosses say the project will see the construction of a new production line at the site, which manufactures Soarnol, a high-performance polymer.
They add the work, which will see approximately 250 people work on-site for the duration of the contract, will involve the installation of thousands of tonnes of structural steel, piping and heavy equipment, with Bilfinger’s automation and projects business unit spearheading the effort.
Darren Clement, vice president of engineering, automation and projects at Bilfinger UK, said: “Securing this significant award and being part of this project is a testament to our team’s expertise and commitment to delivering excellence.
“Our extensive experience on the Mitsubishi site and our reputation for high-quality work have positioned us well for this exciting opportunity.
“We look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with Mitsubishi Chemical and contributing to the success of the Saltend Chemical Park.”
