Pall-Ex delivers hundreds of jobs in £80 million plan
A distribution firm is set to create hundreds of jobs in an £80 million expansion.
Pall-Ex has unveiled plans for a 408,000sq ft freight base.
Bosses say the site – earmarked for Bardon, near Leicester, will deliver more than 530 jobs and operate as the company’s UK and European headquarters.
Building work is set to start later this year, subject to planning approval, with officials revealing the venture will support around 500 construction posts.
Described as a centre of excellence, Pall-Ex officials say the site, close to the M1, will “redefine… palletised freight distribution”.
Kevin Buchanan, Pall-Ex group chief executive, said: “This isn’t just about expansion and growth – this investment reinforces our position at the forefront of operational excellence.
“We are leading the way and shaping the future of palletised freight distribution through innovation, technology and sustainability.”
Pall-Ex is working alongside commercial property developer and investor Barberry on the blueprint, with the latter having lodged a planning application to Hinckley and Bosworth District Council.
Jonathan Robinson, Barberry development director, said: “This is another significant investment, which demonstrates our strong financial position and continued commitment to the industrial and logistics sector in key locations.”
