CyberNorth boosted by Sage support

A North East cybersecurity group is set to accelerate its growth and innovation plans following a new partnership with a regional tech heavyweight.

CyberNorth, the region’s cybersecurity cluster organisation, has joined forces with Newcastle-headquartered FTSE 100 firm Sage to champion the sector and build momentum behind the creation of a North East Innovation Zone – a proposed physical hub for tech businesses.

The partnership aims to showcase the region as a global innovation hub, supporting cyber skills, jobs and business growth.

Danielle Phillips, chief executive at CyberNorth, which has already built a network of 100 businesses and more than 2000 professionals across sectors including fintech and defence, said: “The North East has a stellar roll call of companies blazing a trail across the cybersecurity landscape.

“However, there remains untapped potential.

“This partnership with Sage really is a pivotal moment for CyberNorth and the cybersecurity community in the region.

“We look forward to seizing all the exciting new opportunities this partnership will bring.”

Sage, which employs more than 1200 people at its Cobalt Park headquarters, will help champion CyberNorth’s wider mission, including national and international profile-raising.

Mads Howard, manager in the CEO Office at Sage, added: “The North East has a rich heritage of innovation, and by investing in our local ecosystem we are helping to build a strong and more resilient digital economy for the future.”
