Fresh start for historic Silsden school sites
A West Yorkshire housing developer is planning to breathe new life into two vacant brownfield sites with proposals for a multi-million-pound residential scheme in Silsden.
Redstart Robinson has submitted a £15 million proposal to transform the former Elliott Street and Hothfield Street school sites into 48 new homes, including ten affordable properties.
The sites, just a short walk from each other, were made redundant after a new primary school was built nearby and have remained empty for around three years.
If approved by the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (CBMDC), the plans will see the demolition of the old Victorian-era school buildings to make way for high-quality housing.
The sites had already been earmarked for residential use in the local authority’s housing plan.
Andrew Foggitt, developments director at Redstart Robinson, said: “These sites offer an opportunity to provide a well-balanced mix of housing while bringing new life to two long-vacant plots in the heart of Silsden.
“Our proposals align with Bradford Council’s commitment to regenerating brownfield land and meeting local housing needs and, subject to approval, we’re excited to move forward and bring this high-quality development to life for the benefit of the community.”
Construction could begin within three months of approval, with the build estimated to take between 12 and 18 months.
