Merchant Park project hits new heights
A commercial property project has hit a key milestone.
Merchant Park’s phase one development, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, has celebrated its topping-out ceremony at the 17-acre site on Millennium Way, at Aycliffe Business Park.
The first phase will deliver 52,500sq ft of commercial space and create 198 jobs when completed later this year.
Plans for phases two and three are already underway, promising a further 215,500sq ft of space, with plans to create 1014 jobs when all three phases of the site have been completed.
Adrian Goodall, development manager at Merchant Park Developments, said: “I’ve been impressed by the progress on site by our contractors Hall Construction.
“After months of planning and preparation work, it’s fantastic to hit this milestone; it brings us closer to supporting North East businesses looking to scale up and locate to new premises.”
The development is backed by FW Capital and the North East Combined Authority through the Commercial Property Investment Fund (CPIF), which aims to create thousands of jobs and inject nearly £120 million into the local property market over 15 years.
Chris Dixon, senior investment executive at FW Capital, added: “It’s great to be involved with the topping-out ceremony and see first-hand how investment from the CPIF is helping meet demand for commercial property space in the North East.
“We share Merchant Park’s vision to create quality commercial warehouse and office space, regenerating previously barren land.”
