Luxury landscapers shift gear to green
A luxury landscaping firm is stepping up its sustainability efforts with an investment in a fleet of electric vehicles.
Wilkinsons Landscapes, operating from Wilkinsons Plant Centre, near Teesside Airport, has introduced a fleet of four VW ID Buzz Vans to support its landscape management team.
Each van was customised by Sign Design GB, wrapped in Wilkinsons’ distinctive burgundy and black branding, with bosses saying the move is part of a long-term commitment to reduce the environmental footprint of the company.
Simon Wilkinson, managing director at Wilkinsons Landscapes, said: “Not only do these vans look absolutely amazing and spark conversations, but investing in these vehicles is also a crucial step for us in our journey towards being more sustainable.
"As a company that works closely with natural landscapes, it is our responsibility to lead by example in environmental stewardship.
“Our work directly impacts the environment, and we believe that adopting sustainable practices is essential to preserving the beauty and health of the natural world for future generations.
“We are looking at how to incorporate more electric vehicles and tools into our business, but the lack of infrastructure and the nature of our work means it is very difficult.
“Our other vehicles and fuel-operated machinery undergo regular maintenance to ensure they are as efficient as they can be, and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our environmental footprint.”
Wilkinsons’ wider eco strategy also encourages wildlife-friendly planting and sustainable practices such as using repurposed materials and battery-powered tools.
