Window of opportunity for Scarborough firm
A North Yorkshire glazing business is expanding its services to support local tradespeople.
Scarborough-based EYG, known for supplying aluminium and UPVC windows and doors to the domestic market, has launched a dedicated trade division targeting smaller businesses.
Led by manager Adam Wall, estimator Ryan Jones and administrator Michelle Wharton, the new arm offers local trades a one-stop shop for industry-leading products, with the option of direct-to-site delivery.
Bosses say the move follows a record period of sales for the firm, which opened its Eastfield Industrial Estate showroom eight years ago.
They add that the shift in focus will support regional growth while strengthening its local trade network.
Adam said: “We’ve very much placed a new focus on supporting local traders and offering them excellent deals on our premium products and now have a dedicated team to serve this market.
“The market has been quite difficult in recent years, especially for smaller businesses, but we feel we can help out by working with local traders, which will ultimately benefit the end customers, as they will have access to our products and systems, which are recognised as leaders in the sector.
“It’s something the business hasn’t done enough of from this Scarborough base in recent years, as we’ve been so heavily focussed on the homeowner market, which has brought success as we’ve just enjoyed a record period of sales.
“However, we know many people turn to smaller installation companies and one-man bands, so we’re making our products accessible to that market too.”
EYG’s Scarborough branch has also built specialist knowledge in navigating planning regulations for conservation areas, often required when installing sliding sash windows.
With experience in large-scale commercial projects – including a recent £900,000 installation at a development near Royal Ascot – the team is also seeing growing demand for shop front fittings.
Adam added: “Windows and doors for new retail premises, such as shop fronts, are our bread and butter in terms of trade supply, and there appears to be a lot of opportunity across North Yorkshire, so again that is an area we want to do more in.
“We handle all the planning issues around these windows for our customers as we have been through the process so many times now and know exactly what needs to be taken into consideration to get permission to replace windows.
“It’s that level of expertise and knowledge that we bring.”
