Healthcare provider gains surgical hub approval
A healthcare provider has secured planning permission for a surgical hub.
One Health Group is set to create a Scunthorpe base.
Bosses say the site will “deliver significant additional surgical operating capacity in regions with limited provision of NHS services”.
They add construction will begin in “due course”, with the hub – primed for land off Normanby Road – earmarked to open next summer.
Sheffield-headquartered One Health Group provides NHS-funded procedures across areas including gynaecology, orthopaedics and urology.
Adam Binns, chief executive, said: “Our ambition to develop a network of surgical hubs is key to our longer-term accelerated growth strategy, supporting rising NHS demand and offering capacity growth in under-resourced areas.
“We’re delighted to confirm our first site will be in Scunthorpe, and will bring localised specialist surgical services and employment to a much-deprived area.”
