Builder 'lays foundations for growth' after work wins
A national construction and civil engineering firm says it has laid foundations for growth after landmark projects boosted financial results.
John Graham Holdings saw pre-tax profit rise 71 per cent to £25.2 million in the year to March 31, with gross profit higher at £73 million and cash reserves stronger at £192.5 million.
Revenue was down six per cent to £1.06 billion.
Bosses say its progress was fuelled by a string of “high-profile” contracts, which included its appointment as main contractor on a £90 million deep-water terminal at Belfast Harbour.
The company, which also provides facilities management services, secured further work on a £124.5 million Glasgow student accommodation scheme, a £100 million mixed-use development in Leeds and a number of school refurbishment projects across England.
Andrew Bill, group chief executive, said: “Our performance reflects the strength of our people, our focus and our commitment to delivering lasting impact.
“We are encouraged by the progress made and excited about the opportunities ahead.”
The firm operates from bases across the UK and Ireland, with its footprint including sites in Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Dublin, Durham City, Edinburgh, Manchester and London.
