NFU Energy names new chair
Midlands-based energy consultancy and service provider NFU Energy has appointed John Mercer as chair to support the next phase of its strategic growth.
John, who succeeds Ken Sutherland, brings over 20 years of senior leadership experience at the National Farmers’ Union, most recently serving as director of NFU Cymru.
He will oversee governance at NFU Energy as it expands its consultancy and energy services offering across agriculture and commercial markets.
John said: “It’s a huge honour and privilege to take on the role of Chair of NFU Energy.
“This organisation has achieved fantastic growth under Mr Sunderland’s direction, and I’m excited to work alongside an incredible team to drive it even further.
“What’s clear to me is the success and growth achieved so far is built by the professionalism and expertise within the team, and I look forward in supporting this next chapter of growth.
“There are a lot of synergies between our work and the needs within the energy landscape, and we are ready to extend the impact of our expertise beyond farming, helping more businesses reduce costs and become more energy efficient.”
Tim Crocker, managing director of NFU Energy, added: “John’s appointment as chair comes at a time of both strength and momentum for NFU Energy.
“Thanks to years of strategic focus and strong leadership, the business is in an incredibly resilient position and growing at pace.
“With John’s depth of experience and clear understanding of our roots, I’m confident he’ll help guide us through this next phase of growth while preserving the values that have made us successful.”
