MHA expands corporate finance offering

National accountancy and business advisory firm MHA, the UK member firm of Baker Tilly International, has appointed John Bryant as corporate finance partner at its Birmingham office.

John will lead the M&A offering in the city, serving clients across the Midlands and beyond.

He brings more than 25 years’ experience in corporate finance, including roles at NatWest and several of the UK’s top ten accountancy firms, alongside an MBA.

Specialising in mid-market companies, John has expertise in acquisitions, disposals, management buyouts and private equity partnerships, with a focus on industrials and manufacturing.

John said: “I have a real passion for making a difference to our clients, whether this is helping them realise the true value of their business or assisting them to begin a new journey with an investment partner.

“That same passion has shone through in the conversations I have had with the MHA team, which made joining the company an easy decision.

“I’m excited to use my knowledge to provide quality advice to our clients as part of a progressive, globally connected firm.”

MHA employs over 2000 staff across 20 UK offices, including more than 75 in Birmingham.

Its corporate finance team now exceeds 40 staff nationwide, with John helping expand the Birmingham and wider Midlands offering in the coming years.

Andrew Feeke, head of corporate finance at MHA, added: “MHA’s corporate finance team has seen strong and consistent growth over the past five years and was among the UK’s most active mergers and acquisitions advisory firms last year.

“Figures show the Midlands is an active and expanding M&A market and we believe MHA’s ethos of honest, high-quality advice and long-lasting client relationships are perfectly suited to help us lead with ambition and support the region’s companies with formal ‘boots on the ground’ over the coming years.

“John’s experience and deep knowledge of the area make him the perfect recruit to spearhead our ambitions to become the adviser of choice for Midlands companies looking to undertake M&A activities, invest or restructure their ownership to support growth.”

Beverley Scott, partner in MHA’s Birmingham office, added: “Businesses across the Midlands are increasingly looking for both a personal, relationship-led approach to the advice they receive, in addition to global expertise.

“As part of Baker Tilly International, MHA is in a unique position to provide this and we have seen real growth at our Birmingham office across a variety of sectors.

“John is the latest in a number of senior appointments in Birmingham this year and his expertise will allow us to add a local M&A presence to the range of high-quality advisory services we can already offer our clients in the locality, supporting our continued growth.”
