Builder breaks ground on first Teesside scheme
A housebuilder has broken ground on a 100-plus property development.
Banks Homes has officially begun work on The Cornfields.
Based on the outskirts of Yarm, near Stockton, bosses say the 109-home scheme marks County Durham-headquartered Banks’ first Teesside residential site.
They add the development will feature 11 property designs, ranging from three-to-five-bedroom homes, and include smart heating systems, air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points.
Russ Hall, Banks Homes’ managing director, said: “Seeing work starting is always an exciting landmark at any development, and it’s great to see the progress already made.”
The business is working with a number of firms on the venture, including Leyburn-based groundworks company Biker Group, Middlesbrough’s BS Scaffolding and Team Valley’s Tri-Floor Solutions, which is supplying underfloor heating.
Russ added: “We have a longstanding policy of investing in the expertise of regional businesses wherever possible.
“We’re very pleased to call on the services of these expert providers for different aspects of the development.”
The construction milestone comes after Banks’ property arm last week submitted plans for a 350-home scheme in Tudhoe, County Durham.
