Radius helps rescue fire safety firm's IT system
An IT support firm has helped a fire safety consultancy extinguish tech troubles.
Darlington-based Radius Tech Solutions has worked with Richmond Fire Engineers.
Bosses say the partnership has rescued the North Yorkshire-based company from “spiralling tech issues and has restored performance, confidence and peace of mind”.
They add the work included an “overhaul of its entire IT infrastructure” after being let down by a previous supplier, with a full hardware refresh matched by new HP docking stations for flexible hot-desking and improved security posture.
Officials say the work has delivered up to four times faster system performance, with Alexa radios – once prone to crashing during large file transfers – remaining operational.
Known for providing fire sprinkler system design, installation and emergency support for more than 30 years, Richmond Fire Engineers – based in the market town of its name – also operates a design hub in Huddersfield alongside nationwide satellite teams.
Lee Smith, Richmond Fire Engineers’ director, hailed the support of Radius’ team, led by managing director Lee Huck.
He said: “Lee assured us it could be done differently and more smoothly.
“We’re all on laptops now.
“People take them home, bring them back. It just works.”
Lee Huck added: “From the outset, our goal was to take the pressure off Richmond Fire and give its team the stability, speed and confidence they’d been missing.
“We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all IT.
“It’s about listening, understanding how a business really operates and tailoring a solution that just works – now and for the future.”
