Harrison Family Vets grows to 100-strong team

Independent veterinary group Harrison Family Vets, which is headquartered in Harrogate, has welcomed its 100th team member, just four years after launching.

Siân Burwood joins the Kingswinford practice as a veterinary surgeon, bringing 14 years’ experience after graduating from the University of Cambridge in 2011.

She said: “After 14 years in small animal practice, I was ready for a new challenge. 

“Harrison Family Vets really appealed because of its commitment to the Fear Free Accreditation, as well as its dedication to developing all team members’ individual talents and interests. 

“It’s already clear that the expectations of both my colleagues and pet owners are different to what you would find in other practices, because everyone is so focused on giving the pets the best possible experience above everything else, which creates a happy and positive environment all round. 

“I’m also being supported as I explore other sides to my veterinary identity outside the consulting room, which is ensuring I still enjoy my clinical work. 

“I loved my previous job in a family-owned practice, so it’s great to still feel that personal touch even in a bigger organisation. 

“I’m very happy to be the 100th team member and I’m really looking forward to this next chapter of my veterinary career at Harrison Family Vets.”

Since opening its first practice in Woodley near Reading in 2021, the group has expanded to nine locations, including Manchester, Middlesbrough, Doncaster, Wigan, Leeds and Stoke.

Earlier this month, Harrison Family Vets opened a new Sheffield practice as part of a £400,000 investment and is recruiting for further sites in Darlington, Newcastle and Halesowen.
