Chapter 2 Dating secures its own app platform
A dating app business is taking control of its technology to fuel growth.
Chapter 2 Dating Ltd, founded by Manchester entrepreneur Nicky Wake, has acquired the white-label dating and social app platform it has been using since launching in 2022.
The purchase of M14 secures ownership of the technology behind Wake’s apps, including SoberLove, Chapter 2 Dating and Widows Fire.
Originally launched in 2017 and later developed by dating industry veteran Steve Pammenter, the platform offers subscription-based revenue sharing, fully functional apps in app stores, as well as streamlined admin dashboards designed for simplicity and user-friendliness.
Nicky says the deal allows Chapter 2 Dating to fully control its products and accelerate innovation, while Steve will now focus on expanding Gaydar and his content business Highlife Media.
Nicky said: “We’ve been using this platform since launching in September 2022 and it has been instrumental in establishing our brand.
“When the opportunity arose to purchase it, it was a natural step forward.
“Owning the platform gives us greater control, improves profitability, allows us to develop new features, and provides flexibility around membership structures and pricing.”
Steve added: “The timing is perfect so I can concentrate on my separate businesses, Gaydar and Highlife Media, which present a huge opportunity.
“Dating app GaydarGirls will remain a strategic partner on the platform.
“Passing the platform on to Nicky and Chapter 2 Dating Ltd ensures it continues to thrive in the hands of someone who has been an integral strategic partner from the start.”
