Legal firm makes Riverside Sunderland move
A long-established North East legal firm is preparing for growth with a move to a landmark city centre development.
Richard Reed Solicitors, which has been based in Frederick Street for nearly 80 years, is relocating to The Beam at Riverside Sunderland.
The firm, founded in 1948 and now employing more than 40 legal professionals and support staff, has sold its existing premises and will move into its new offices by the end of the year.
Bosses say the practice has secured 5012sq ft of space within the 60,000sq ft Grade A office building, which is already home to businesses including Ocado, North East Screen, Apexon and Asset55.
They add that the move, follows a recent rebrand that reflects Richard Reed’s evolution under the leadership of managing director Sarah Reid and director Phil Moir, while the modern space provides “state-of-the-art facilities” and an environment from which it can “thrive”.
Sarah said: “We are proudly Sunderland based, so this move to The Beam allows us to stay in the city we were established in, in a space we can be proud to welcome our clients – right at the heart of Riverside Sunderland.
“The whole area is transforming, and we were focused on finding a space in this part of the city, where the business could thrive in an environment that reflects the modern, dynamic business we are today.”
Councillor Kevin Johnston, portfolio holder for housing, regeneration and business at Sunderland City Council, added: “Riverside Sunderland is a world-class development and it’s no surprise to see more and more ambitious firms relocating there, to be part of what is fast establishing itself as the most vibrant and exciting urban quarter in the North East.
“We’re thrilled that an indigenous firm, that has grown here, is going to make The Beam its new home.”
