Maisie Adam to headline games conference

A “flagship” games industry conference is set to draw top talent and international attention this October.

Game Republic New Horizons will take place at Riverside Stadium, in Middlesbrough, on October 16, featuring more than 200 business leaders from across the UK and overseas.

Headlining the final session will be comedian Maisie Adam, known for her Big Kick Energy podcast and currently appearing in the latest episode of Channel 4’s Taskmaster, who will be interviewed live on stage by The Game Business editor-in-chief Chris Dring and play EA Sports FC.

Jamie Sefton, managing director at Game Republic, said: “We are so excited to have Maisie join us.

“She comes from the North and is fast becoming a household name.

“This new flagship games industry conference is all about the future of games and beyond, and Maisie is a great example of someone who is working in many spheres and winning awards for her work.

“Maisie is highly competitive as we have seen on Taskmaster, so I hope Chris is prepared!

“I can’t wait to see her play and hear her thoughts on comedy, games, TV and more – and I am sure that this final interview will set the mood for the After Party that will follow the final session.”

The conference, supported by Tees Valley Combined Authority and sponsored by Double Eleven, Autodesk, KudosQA, Red Kite Games, NextGen Skills Academy, Supercell, Barclays Games and Creative and Xsolla, will explore new opportunities, technology, markets, leadership, skills and funding.

Attendees will meet industry figures from BAFTA, BFI, Supercell, Japanese publisher Rainy Frog, MachineGames and more, with access to MeetToMatch networking and a fundraising lunch with Middlesbrough FC mascot Roary.

The day will conclude with an After Party offering unlimited arcade games, bowling, VR experiences and go-karts, while a VIP reception and fireside chat with Supercell’s London head takes place the evening prior.
