Top Halloween events in the North East

As the nights draw in, the North East is set to come alive with ghostly thrills, pumpkin patches and family-friendly frights.

From scream parks to magical museum nights, here are the best Halloween events you won’t want to miss this autumn.

For all the family...

Beamish Museum Halloween Evenings
Beamish will be transformed into “The Un-living Museum of the North” for three special evenings, with family-friendly fun, period-themed street entertainment, fairground rides, treats from traditional bakery and sweet shops, plus a film screening beforehand in the 1950s Grand Cinema. 
When: 27, 29 & 31 October, from 5pm to 9.30pm.

The Pumpkin Experience, Brocksbushes, Northumberland
What: A large pumpkin picking event with more than 160,000 pumpkins in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours, plus carving tents, a pumpkin patch for littler ones, autumn rides and attractions, food vendors and photo spots.
When: 4-5, 11-12 October and daily from 17 to 31 October, with “Twilight Sessions” some evenings until 8pm.

For adults and older kids...

Psycho Path, Lintz Hall Farm, Burnopfield
A huge “scream park” with multiple scare attractions (mazes, themed areas) plus live stage shows, fairground rides, street food and bars. 
When: 27 September to 1 December. Gates open from 5pm, with all mazes open from 6pm.

Halloween Great North Night, Great North Museum, Newcastle
One night only event where the museum becomes a haunted spectacle. Expect creepy encounters, ghostly displays, macabre performances, a costume competition, eerie crafts and more.
When: Friday 31 October, 6pm to 8pm.
18+ only.

The Horror Car Wash, Sunderland
What: A drive-through scare experience where you stay inside your car as actors, lights and special effects turn an ordinary wash into a terrifying ride.

Expect jump scares, eerie characters and plenty of spooky surprises.

When: 12–31 October. Slots available from 6pm to 9.15pm.
