Trident launches sustainability division

Trident Building Consultancy has launched a new sustainability services division with the appointment of Darren Berman.

Darren brings 25 years of expertise in sustainability, having built consulting teams at CBRE and JLL, and has worked on some of the UK’s first climate risk frameworks and net-zero strategies.

At Trident, he will lead the new division, which will support clients in creating value across acquisition, development, refurbishment and operation. 

Services will include sustainability strategy, sustainable design, climate risk management, asset performance optimisation, net-zero delivery, social value creation and certification and reporting.

Darren said: “I have always been committed to bringing together all the stakeholders that are needed to make sustainability work; helping policy makers understand the practicalities; enabling investors and occupiers to realise the business case; and advising developers on the technical solutions that maximise impact.

“We have now reached a point where everyone knows what’s needed – the business case is clear – but delivery is the key challenge.

“My new role at Trident is all about helping clients make a tangible impact, whether through developing new buildings or repositioning existing ones to guard against obsolescence, manage climate and regulatory risks, and deliver cost-effective pathways to net-zero while meeting tenants’ ESG expectations.”

Darren added: “Trident has a long history of delivery across large and complex portfolios.

With offices in eight UK cities, Dan Roe, managing director of Trident, says Darren’s appointment strengthens its ability to support clients in meeting regulatory responsibilities and driving the sustainability agenda.
